I have just returned from Apes Hill Barbados and let me tell you it is a wonderful place for a golf vacation and more, at 1000 ft above sea level the views are spectacular.
First, Apes Hill Barbados is a prestigious address, a Villa only resort that are all 3 bedrooms at the moment, although there are 14 new Villas being built that will be all 4 bedrooms each. The current villas are very spacious, extremely clean, with full kitchens, barbecue, and each villa has its own pool as well. It is also a great location to build your own home and be part of the community.
The restaurants at this location are the Noisy Cricket and the 20th hole.
The chef is simply amazing, as the food quality and variety is spectacular, and everything on the menu was delicious.
The golf course at Apes Hill has a wonderful layout with lots of magnificent views. It is very playable for the beginner and the intermediate and presents a challenge from the back tees for those inclined to play the tips.
Golf carts are a “must” as you couldn’t possibly walk this course since it is well spread out over about 200 acres or so. There is also a wonderful driving range, a 6 hole par-3 course for juniors and just for fun for the adults, there is even a 19th hole fashioned after the 17 that TPC Sawgrass for that extra challenge at the end of your round.
This is a fantastic location for a couple’s group or a group of guys or ladies who just want to play really great golf and have a wonderful time. There are also 8 world class tennis courts and paddle ball courts
available.
The staff at Apes Hill are also fantastic, from the Director of Golf Jody Addison to Gayle Talma - General Manager, to Tara Burrowes - Guest Experience Manager, and the rest of the staff who all address you by name, take care of your every whim and look after you diligently.
Not only is Apes Hill a great place – it is also in a great location. Although the villas are not directly on the beach, they have access to a great beach less that 5 minutes away and they shuttle you there.
It is also close to two of the other three golf courses on the island -Sandy Lane’s The Country Club and The Royal Westmoreland Gold Club. These are also magnificent golf courses and very playable for all levels of golfers. And if you have deep pockets, you can even play the iconic Green Monkey at Sandy Lane.
I am highly recommending Apes Hill Barbados, as a must stay location.
